West Ham ‘watching’ ‘sensational’ £40m star at London Stadium
West Ham have reviewed Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans, according to transfer insider DeanJones.
The 25-year-old has just one year left on his contract at King Power Stadium and has been linked with a move away from the Foxes this summer.
What is the latest news about Tielemans?
According to the CBS reporter Ben JacobsNewcastle United could swoop for Tielemans this transfer window.
At one point it looked like the Belgian would end up at Arsenal before the start of the 2022/23 season, with The Telegraph reporting in May that Mikel Arteta was pushing for the north London club to make a bid for the player .
However, reports now suggest that the Gunners’ interest in Tielemans has cooled.
That leaves Newcastle and West Ham with a big chance of landing the midfielder, who cost his current club £40million when he arrived permanently from AS Monaco in 2019.

What did Jones say about Tielemans and West Ham?
Jones told GIVEMESPORT that Tielemans is a player West Ham have considered.
Speaking to GMS, the reporter said: “West Ham also looked at Tielemans. West Ham, Tottenham, Arsenal, they’ve looked at a lot of similar players like that, and Tielemans is probably the most high profile they’ve got left of them all right now in terms of a midfield role.
Could West Ham lure Tielemans to London Stadium?
West Ham’s progress under David Moyes over the past two years has been phenomenal.
They of course managed to reach the semi-finals of the Europa League last season after finishing sixth in the 2020/21 Premier League campaign – both excellent feats.
However, it feels like Tielemans wants to join a club that can do even better than that. Europe’s second-tier competition and the Europa Conference League are tournaments he’s already played at Leicester, so a switch to the Hammers would arguably be a side step.
Arsenal are obviously not in the Champions League either, but a club of their stature will always be an attraction for players.
As for Leicester, Brendan Rodgers is hopeful it is still possible to sign Tielemans to a new contract, with the Foxes boss describing the Belgium international’s football as “sensational” last year.
“How he has adapted to the Premier League and the speed of the game, you only see his football. It’s sensational,” the 49-year-old told Sky Sports.
It’s not hard to see why West Ham would want Tielemans, but they may have a case to make if he is to end up at the London Stadium this summer.
