Summer heat returns with risk of severe storms – NBC Boston

The triple “H” is back, Hazy, Hot and Humid today and tomorrow.
Today we are monitoring the potential for severe thunderstorms this afternoon. Some of them should be strong to severe. The main threat is the destructive wind and heavy rains.
With this severe potential comes heat and humidity. Temperatures today will be in the lower 90s with dew points in the 60s above about the 70s. This oppressive humidity will “stay” until Wednesday. The window for this unstable weather this after is between 1 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Tomorrow will be another hot and humid day with scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms. We expect, once again, the heat indices to approach 90s.
A cold front is expected to strike south of the region on Thursday and Friday with showers and thunderstorms. From Thursday night through Friday, Elsa is expected to follow southern New England, improving the rain and lifting the waters with strong waves.
By the end of Friday to Saturday, the front will cross and then stall towards our south. We might see showers and thunderstorms more scattered along the front.
Remember to stay hydrated in hot weather, watch your neighbors, and never leave pets or children unattended in your car – they can heat up quickly. Be careful.
