Penn State Baseball’s Big Ten Tournament opening postponed due to bad weather
Penn State baseball will have to wait another day for its first Big Ten tournament game in 10 years. The conference announced Wednesday that the Nittany Lions’ home opener against Iowa has been postponed due to inclement weather.
The game was originally scheduled for 10 a.m. on Wednesday, but got pushed to a 6 p.m. start time because of the threat of rain. Now both teams will have to wait until Thursday May 26 to hit the diamond, with a new start time yet to be determined.
The host site in Omaha, Nebraska, saw nearly half an inch of rain on Wednesday, had temperatures in the 50s and winds gusting up to 34 miles per hour, par AccuWeather. All games of Wednesday’s Big Ten tournament have therefore been postponed.
When the two teams finally play, it will be No. 6 seeded Penn State taking on No. 3 seeded Iowa in the Nittany Lions’ first conference tournament game since 2012.
