March feeling in May today

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4) – Happy Friday, Utah! We have come to the end of the work week and it is very different from how we started our work week with above average heat. Temperatures across the state will be more than 10 degrees cooler than average after the robust cold front blew through Beehive State yesterday.
The drastic drop in daytime highs means abnormally cool temperatures today, with numbers only climbing into the upper 50s along the Wasatch Front, as well as central and eastern Utah. The 60s will appear in south-central and southeast Utah, while St. George will peak in the 70s.
We are also maintaining cool lows overnight and a hard freeze warning that will come into effect for Bear Lake and the Bear River Valley along the Wasatch Back and into the Sanpete Valley.
Depressions could again drop to 25° in these areas, so watch out gardeners! Freezing temperatures will also be possible in Uinta Basin and Cache Valley tonight, while patches of frost will be possible along the Wasatch Front as lows fall in the mid 30s and above.
Winds remain gusty in the far south of our state today, and as a result, fire danger is still high. A The red flag warning remains for lower Washington County including St. George and Zion NP continues through Friday, so does Kane County and southeastern Utah from Moab to Bluff. Avoid burning today, as any fire that produces sparks will likely spread quickly.
In the northern half of the state, we have the potential for wet weather with a slight chance of isolated showers today. In the meantime, thunderstorms will be possible in the afternoon and evening today.
We are also getting a weak disturbance on Saturday which has us unsettled with a slight chance of a storm bubbling up, mostly over the higher ground. If you plan to get out and recreate, keep your eyes on the sky, as activity is more likely to occur on higher ground.
A gradual warming trend starts on Saturday and continues through the weekend where we will warm about 3-5 degrees each day, then Monday will be like Sunday. A more robust warmup is in stores by the middle of next week.
At the end of the line ? We end the work week with a noticeable change in temperature, windy conditions and the risk of a storm in the northern half of Utah.
