Fantasy Premier League 2021/22 Gameweek Six preview
The sixth week of the 2021/22 Fantasy Premier League matchup kicks off with the massive clash between Chelsea and champions Manchester City this Saturday. With the North London Derby on Sunday and the M23 Derby on Monday night as well, it promises to be a series of very exciting fixtures. Let’s find out what awaits us this week of play from the point of view of the FPL.
Fantasy Premier League 2021/22 Gameweek Six picks
Many regular starters did not feature in the Carabao Cup matches in midweek. However, one would expect most of them to be in attendance for the weekend games. There are doubts about the injuries surrounding Patrick Bamford, Raphinha and Trent Alexander-Arnold, so stay up to date with team news from the pre-match press conferences.
Fantasy Premier League 2021/22 Gameweek Six: Matches to Focus
Manchester United v Aston Villa
After retiring from the Carabao Cup, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will want to see a reaction from the players this Saturday. Solskjaer made 11 changes to his starting lineup for the midweek game, so all starters will be fresh for the weekend. Cristiano Ronaldo scored once last Sunday, but he should have scored more given he had seven shots and a few penalties. At home, one would expect him to pick up a lot of shots and maybe score one or more goals.
Aston Villa are a decent team, but without Jack Grealish they look a little light this season. Additionally, John McGinn will likely not be allowed to play due to the concussion protocol. You can expect a home win here with attacking returns from Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Mason Greenwood.
Leeds United v West Ham United
Leeds United are currently facing an injury crisis with Luke Ayling, Diego Llorente and Robin Koch injured with doubts over Bamford and Raphinha. Additionally, Pascal Struijk is suspended and Jack Harrison will likely be missing with COVID-19. Marcelo Bielsa is hoping to have some of those players available for this game, but it seems difficult for them to face a very strong West Ham United side who will reunite with Michail Antonio after a suspension. Said Benrahma is another hammer-worthy option with three goals and two assists so far this season. However, Leeds United have a series of fixtures ahead, so there should be no rush to sell people like Bamford and Raphinha if they are declared fit.
Fantasy Premier League 2021/22 Gameweek Six: Focus on the teams
Burnley, Norwich City, Leeds United and Newcastle United have the worst defensive records so far this season. So it makes sense to target these teams. However, the Canaries face an injury-ravaged Everton this week, making it a more balanced game. Andros Townsend and Demarai Gray are decent options in this meeting. However, some tough games are ahead in the following game weeks for the Toffees. So would FPL managers take a week on either of these two? Norwich City have actually won in their last two visits to Goodison Park.
Brentford have conceded just two goals in five games so far. However, they face their toughest mission of the season until top-flight Liverpool make it to Brentford Community Stadium. Jurgen Klopp’s side would be expected to win, but it could be a tough game for them.
Watford and Newcastle United face each other this weekend and players from those teams are decent options. Ismaila Sarr was supposed to do well in last week’s preview and he scored 15 points! It remains an excellent option despite a price hike at the start of the week.
Leicester City are hoping to stabilize their season somewhat with a home win over Burnley. Jamie Vardy could shine despite being a very difficult player to integrate this season.
